Assalamualaikum waRahmatullah,
Alhamdulillah following the Sunnah of Prophet ﷺ several community members and members of the Hilal Committee made a local effort to sight the crescent.
Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah we have seen the Hilal locally, at about 8:00 PM. It was a moment of great joy to locate and then see the crescent.
We prayed upon sighting it as Prophet ﷺ instructed us that May Allah make this Crescent of faith, peace, safety, and Islam, a crescent of guidance and goodness – My Lord and your Lord (O’ Moon) is Allah.
InshaAllah first Eid prayer will be Friday at 8:00 AM at Kalamazoo Islamic Center KIC, 1520 West Michigan Ave. Kalamazoo.
The Main Eid Prayer will be at 9:30 AM at Kalamazoo Islamic School KIS, 805 E. Osterhout Ave, Portage. For the second prayer, please try to carpool to save the parking space and to avoid delays.
Please be sure to pay 12 dollars Zakat ul Fitr per person in the household before the Eid Prayer, and do put it in the envelope and write on it, Zakat, unless already printed. After Eid prayer it is NOT accepted as a Zakat. You can pay via KIC website or pay at the prayer before we start.
Eid & Friday:
Based on the Sunnah, and majority of the Companions, the four guided Caliphs, and the Jurists, Friday Prayer is as important as it is for the rest of the year. Women, Babies, those who live far away from the masjid (e.g Battle Creek) are exempt from coming back.
KIC will hold only one Friday Prayer at 1:30 PM, inshaAllah. There will be no second or third Juma.
Eid Mubarak to all of you and your families. I pray that May Allah bring peace in the Ummah, Accept all the good deeds, and may we continue righteous deeds after Ramadan as well. Ameen
Best Regards,
Hafiz Nauman, KIC.
